Artifact 10

Name: Placemark Activity

Reflection:

This is a website I created for my classroom computer applications course in the spring of 2004. The website contains homework policy expectations, the week's assignments, and a question for parents about volunteering. The website also includes my contact information (fictitious), and what to do if a student is ill. The homework assignments are entered by content area, and are explained adequately.

This website would be a great resource for parents and students. It would be a another way for parents to discuss issues they might feel uncomfortable discussing over the phone or in person. This website would also allow parents to talk with their child about what they're learning in school, and show their child that learning is important.

I would definitely use a similar website in my classroom. I think it's a great way to involve parents in their student's learning and encourage them to become more involved in the classroom. It also show that I'm knowledgeable about technology, and that I care about my student's success. One way that I would change this website, would be to have consecutive weeks listed, and have homework assignments for future weeks posted ahead of time.

Standards/Criteria Connections:

Standard Six - This website creates communication between parents, students, and myself.
Standard Nine - This website enhances relationships between parents and myself.
Standard Ten - This website shows my knowledge of technology, my ability to solve problems, and my level of performance and ability on the computer.
