Name: Technology in Education Midterm Paper

Reflection:

This is a midterm paper I wrote for my Technology in Education course in the fall of 2003. This paper is broken into two parts: the first part is about the use of technology in schools (prior to 1965), and the second part is about the steps of integrating technology into the classroom. The first part of the paper required that we interview an individual over forty about the use of technology in his/her school; I interviewed my mother. The second part of the paper required us to examine our textbooks and other sources to determine the best method to integrating technology. The paper also had to be in APA format.

This paper was one of the best I've ever written. I don't procrastinate with anything, especially when it's important, and it showed. I strongly support the use of technology in schools, but only when it's used to facilitate meaningful learning and promote quality instruction. I think this paper was well-written because I organized my ideas, researched my key points, and presented my findings logically.

I would use this paper to assist in the integration of technology if I was working in a school that didn't use technology at all, or if it was used ineffectively. The fact that it's backed up by research gives me added support and could be used to increase the quality of technology's usage in schools.

Standards/Criteria Connections:

Standard Ten - I used technology to express and support problem solving and critical thinking skills on the use of technology in today's schools.
Standard Eleven - I demonstrated my knowledge of technology integration by expressing my views and by backing it up with research.
