Name: Hyperstudio Stack

Reflection:

This is a Hyperstudio stack I created for my Educational Media and Classroom Computing course in the spring of 2003. The stack is an informational presentation on the planets in the solar system. The stack gives a description of each of the planets as well as a picture of the planet. Once the students explored the stack, they could take what they learned from the stack and apply it to another project (ex. report on one of the planets). The stack is non-linear so the user could explore the stack without having to go in order of the planets.

This is a very informative Hyperstudio stack. For this stack I researched many children's books, websites, and CD-ROM's to create a slide show that would be appropriate for third grade students. I incorporated lots of interesting facts into the slide show. I also tried to included some facts that kids would find funny as well. Since the stack was non-linear, any student could navigate through it and find information that they were interested in or applied to them.

I would use stack for a science unit on the solar system. This would be a great resource for students to have when completing an assignment or project. The great thing about this stack, is that students who use it can make choices and decisions based on information they need to know. When students have choices, it makes them more motivated to learn. One thing I would incorporate with this stack, is a worksheet or fact sheet that the students could complete as they worked their way through the Hyperstudio stack.

Standards/Criteria Connections:

Standard One - This stack would be used to increase student knowledge and application skills.
Standard Ten - This stack would require students to use a computer and work within the Hyperstudio program. This stack also shows my technological skills.
Standard Eleven - This stack shows my knowledge of the solar system and space.
